Hi,
Someone here pointed out that the history of the tank cars was in "A Century + Ten of D&RGW Narrow Gauge Freight Cars, 1871 to 1981". Gad did I have the timing or some items confused - for instance it does not seem to be 25-odd years since the WP narrow frames came home.
I have several questions about this list. I of course might have miss-entered the information into a spread sheet.
The first question:
num date 1947 date 1956 date frame/heater disposition
55326 1910-1 88169 3/18/47 11050 2/16/56 fl type D Colorado Central by 1974
55349 1910-1 88177 3/20/47 11058 2/14/56 fl type J GTL 5/75
On page 18 of "Three Foot Rails", Ashby had the Colorado Central operational in August 1968.
Confusion point:
55326 seems to have been retired in 1956. Ashby did not receive this until until about 1974. Where was it for 18 years?
55349 seems to have been retired in 1956. Ashby did not receive this until until about 1975. Where was it for 19 years?
Most of the cars near these two went to Floyd W Reed Co. Did these two cars make a stop between the D&RGW in 1956 and the Ashby's in 1975?
Thanks.
