In regards to the Dec 19th passing of #116 and EX485 West, I just looked at the valuation maps and they are up-dated to Dec 31, 1927, and Shows Biggs, NM as a spur as Track #45- 795' long with Heal Block at MP 359.55795. The valuation location of the heal block was 5623+82 and up the spur was a cinder platform 8x30'and a 7x28'car body at 5622+14 to 5622+42 and a derail sign at 5622+00. The spur swings northwest off the right-of-way on a Statute of Limitations of 25 x550 feet.
This track has received a later note of "Retired 1955 as AFE #3947" now called Track No.5.
There is no indication of another switch for a passing track. I still see it strange that Passenger First Class #116 has to pull into a light railed dead end spur, and then need to back out after EX 485 proceeded west. It was only 16-18 minutes away from passing at Monero.
So much for the requirement of an inferior train to clear the main line for a superior train in sufficient time. Size, not authority seems to be the rule here.
I see no indication that Biggs Spur ever had more than one switch.
