K-27 #454 Backup Light

Howdy Folks,

Anybody out there know when K-27 #454 got it's backup light? The NG pictorial Vol. XI shows it there in 1950 (Page 85) but all other photo's I have don't show the rear of the tender so I can't tell if it was there any earlier. Also, from the same picture it appears that the loco number is not indicated on the ears of the lamp. Is this the case or is this due to the accumulation of soot making them difficult to see?
