August 31, 1968 was the last day of revenue freight on the D&RGW.
This was a roundtrip to Farmington with engine 483.
After this a few runs were made over the line to Chama, with 483 on the Park Service train, and 473 light for shopping. Then in December the last train with 473 and stuff from Durango in tow made the last steam move from Alamosa-Chama-Durango.
But the last revenue run(not counting Silverton of course) was with the 483 to Farmington.

PS there are some scenes of this in our 1968 video shot by Ernie Robart.
