D&RGW #223

The news about #223 has been quiet recently. I got this info from several friends who were at the N.G. Convention, here is what they wrote ...
"While at the convention in Salt Lake City a couple weeks ago, got to go up and see the progress on the #223 at Odgen's Musuem. While some people have been posting about it being in useless condition, we are pleasantly surprised at the progress being made to put it back into operating condition.
Most work has recently been made on the tender chassis, and about 90% of it is complete. The trucks have been rebuilt and the frame has all new wood. It was all new in black paint. We think they will make a new tender shell next, as they have all the CAD drawings for new metal on it.
In addition the air pumps had been sent to Bernie Watts (Denver) for rebuilding and they were completed, still crated up. Also the steam generator was rebuilt too. The injectors were also rebuilt and were loaned out to one of the engines at Promotory.
The cab is also in the shop, getting measured up to make a new replacement. When the tender is complete, they plan to bring the locomotive into the shop to work on the boiler. Of course, this all depends upon the funds and the volunteer help. But it seems they have been making more progress than on the #169 and #315 that more people have talked about. We asked where they plan to run it when finished, they replied, hoping to bring it to Colorado someday for running.
The museum also has a box car, high side gon, and caboose #0573, but needing a lot of work."
