sjh7 this is for you, and everyone els to enjoy. These are shots I took today of RGS caboose 0402.
After looking at bill's pics off 0400's interior.

I noticed there is a few differences between the two cabooses. Most noticable to me is each cupola seat in 0400 has room to put your feet down like a normal seat/chair but 0402 does not. The other is the cupboards are deeper in 0402.You can see this in the pics. In 0402 the cupboards are even with the bottom of the curved cut out at the base of the cupola walls.
These small differences intrigue me considering 0400, 0401, 0402, and 0403 were all built for the RGS in 1891, and to the same specs I believe. So why the dissimilarities? Is it true what ive heard? That each caboose was assigned to one conductor(ie Crum, ect), and said contuctor would change the interior to his needs/design?
Now to the pics!
We will start at the A end and move to the B end, then look forward.
This is the desk. With a neat little rack for your papers, and the lamp, and bracket in the middle.
Here is the sink and wash bin. Unlike 0400 we just have a chair.
This is the coal fired stove, and coal bin. The coal bin is facing the wrong way. The chain on the wall is for chalking wheels.
Looking forward from the desk chair you can see the flat cupola seat with no leg cut out, five small cupboards and the bunk underneath. The two bunks on the right side open from the top for more storage.
This is the left side of the cupola, and it has three locker style cupboards. You can also se the other front bunk, and the cupboards underneath.
This is the front of the cupola with one 18" grabiron, a brace between front and rear walls, the air brake gauge and two dump valves.
