Here's a set of photos taken just north of Belleville, NV. The "Then" photo is from the Ron Grau Collection and was probably taken in 1942. By then the railroad was abandoned and would be pulled up in the next year. The "Now" photo was taken on Sept. 14, 2014. From walking this part of the railway line, it was apparent that several flash floods had necessitated the relocation of the right of way at least once as we found parallel grades with artifacts on them about 30 feet apart. The modern highway is up to the right above the wash, while the original highway meandered along the wash. The big rock in the center of the photo has survived all flash flood attempts to move it more than a foot or so...
