NNG Casey Jones TV Series

Someone asked me about the old TV series Casey Jones. I knew it starred Alan Hale and was filmed out in California. They asked why in the opening credits, the locomotive has the logo "Cannonball Express" in reverse. I looked and found they were correct. I am not sure what reversing the shot accomplished, unless the locomotive just looked better going that direction, as if it were changed back to normal, wouldn't the engine be going towards the opposite side of the television screen.
