While doing some research on boxcars, I noticed that the 3132 is a little different. According to Plans, the earlier boxcars (pre 1924 rebuild) had a separate air reservoir / brake cylinder setup. The Needle beams were set at about 4' 11" apart. This is obvious by the needle beams setting inside the edges of the door frame. After the rebuild the needle beams were set wider, approx 5' 8" and visually are outside the door frame edges. At this point, or sometime after, the single cylinder/reservoir (and k-1 triple) were added.
3132 is the car that sits in Cimarron with engine 278. It still retains the earlier setup with narrower needle beam spacing, and the split brake system?
Here is a pic of a "normal" boxcar for comparison, found at [

Has anyone else noticed this, or any other boxcars like it? Was this car never rebuilt in the 20's?
