Couple of Glintlers

Don't know why but my brother and I adopted the term glintler, instead
of just saying glint shot. Like saying, nice glintler!!!

Anyway from back in the old days when I was a decent still photographer.

From 35mm slides. My first trip to South Africa in 1977. Just found these in a file and don't think I posted them here before. SA is 3'6" for those who were not aware.

Pair of 15AR's(4-8-2') doublehead the Burgersdofp to Rosemead train at first light, near Teebus. We stayed overnight in Steynsburg to get this 2-3 times a week train, and they had no heat. The morning tea was much welcomed when they brought it into the room with the wakeup call. We chased this train, and at times it was doing near 60!! On this shot we had no time to get over the dreaded fence that was everywhere along the ROW.

(2nd Shot) Going away shot of a pair of 25NC(4-8-4's). These have the long tenders, because they were originally Condensing engines, and once the condensors were bumped by diesels from the most arid regions, the SAR reworked the engines back to regular 4-8-4's. The tenders are odd looking because they used to be rectangle with large fans on the top.
This shot is probably on the De Aar-Kimberly line at sunrise, but not sure.
