There are 72 men on this list. Except for Mr.Oberrich, only promoted engineers shown. Note that 16 men were promoted to locomotive engineer in September and October, 1918. I don't know the reason except for possibly an increase in business coupled with many retirements. Also I don't know why Mr.Oberrich was not promoted. This could not happen today as union agreements state that persons are promoted in seniority order.
Charles Firm, No. 44 was promoted to locomotive engineer ahead of R.E. Houck and A.T. McClintock, who had earlier fireman's dates. My best guess is that he had seniority in another craft that counted.
(I thought I had this lined up nice and neat only to check back and find out it wasn't. Hopefully this will make it more readable.)
