Hi Everyone,
I'll apologize in advance for the quality of the images, but these were scanned from single frames from 16mm movie film taken by my late father in May, 1947. They show a meet between the San Juans at Gato, with the meet taking place west of town, and the westbound then backing out of the siding across the bridge before heading west again.
The first image raises a lot of questions for me. Obviously the 473 is on the siding and 476 is coming down the mainline. This means there were three tracks west of the bridge, but I have not been able to find a track plan that shows this. The only one I have is from July, 1918 that shows the track to the left of the eastbound train, but does not show the track that 473 is sitting on. I'd really like to find a track plan for Gato from the 1947-1950 era as I think it would be a neat place to model. Anyone have any ideas? Here are the photos;
Best regards,
Wayne Hills
