Its good to see all the pictures that happened from this past weekend. With West side #12 back amongst the living in Golden, Willamette #2 completed and running up at Mt. Rainier, I thought it would be appropriate to add another geared locomotive to the mix which made its debut.
Standard Lumber Corp. #5 is a 3" scale three truck shay in 15 inch gauge (Very narrow gauge!) and operated for the first time this weekend at the Hillcrest & Wahtoke Railfest in Reedley, CA. In the video it is pulling two fully loaded ballast hoppers weighing approx. 8 tons total up 2-3% grades in Red Rivet Canyon Cut. Later in the day it was seen pulling 3 dead in tow 5" scale steamers with a 6 car train! Just amazing what this machine could do.
This little show in the Central Valley is getting better each year. 7 fifteen inch gauge steam locomotives were in operation along with two 36" gauge locomotives for a total of 9.
Anyhow, enjoy...
