I was wondering how far outside of montrose was the 3-rail in all four directions of the city? South to grand junction was pretty much only SG after the North Fork branch was Standard Gauged, but was any 3-rail towards Gunnison or Ridgeway? Did they have similar "End of 3rd Rail" signs?
It's interesting looking at the photos around Salida and Alamosa, and the arrangement of dual gauge switchers and the later pneumatic coupler mounts, that they tended to run with the engineer's side as the common rail so the engineer could watch the signals for brakemen (I assume)
