A couple of weeks ago I attempted to log into my Facebook account and was confronted with the following message:
We've received feedback that your account may not be real. Facebook is a community where people share and interact using their real identities.
Facebook does not allow accounts that:
· Pretend to be someone else
· Use a fake name
· Don't represent a real person
In order to regain access to your account, please complete the following security check to verify your identity and help keep Facebook secure.
Needless to say I was devastated to learn, after all of these years, that I may not be a real person (and I even used my real name, maybe I should just have stayed with Gothpapa). I immediately checked with Nancy about this and she assured me that she’s pretty sure I am real. Travis, on the other hand, said that this confirms his worse suspicions. So, I don’t know.
I have completed all of the prescribed security checks two or three times but they still won’t restore my page. They insist on sending some kind of code as a text message to my “mobile device,” but the only “mobile device” I own is my car and it doesn’t receive text messages. Apparently, in this brave new world that we inhabit, if you don’t own a “mobile device” that receives messages then you don’t exist.
Oh well, in the immortal words of Rhett Butler, “Frankly, my dear….”
Sincerely,
Clovis the unreal
