In 2009 I took this picture on the Harz ng. in Germany. It was a photo charter designed to recreate the HSB when it was a freight hauling branch of the East German railways just prior to German reunification in say the 1980's. Bernd Seiler organized the trip, and some of the attention to detail is interesting. Note the East German flag on the station, the rather poorly dressed "passengers" with their old fashioned bags, and the older green coaches that had replaced the cream and red livery on HSB's current stock. Bernd also chose a station that still had some of the old DR signage. The dreary overcast sky probably is appropriate as well. I know photo charters are not everyone's bag, much less this kind of "foreign" stuff, but I thought this was an above average attempt to recreate a scene from the past. And running stuff like this through Photoshop helps keep me busy on a rainy day.
