Here's a picture of a (set, pair, what's the proper terminology?) of K-36 drivers, without counterweights. It's a render of a 3D model I've finally started, from the ground up. Next step is to add the counterweights and quarter them.
My goal is to construct a complete K-36 in 3D. This is not intended as a 3D simulation, ala Trainz. It's a zen thing. If I can completely understand the K-36, then I will better know myself and the world around me. Eh, maybe not, but at least I'll have a pretty cool model and I can make the boiler jacket any color I want, but will probably go black.
Anyway, took measurements from the K-36 erecting card drawings from the Maxwell collection. I know the driver width, wheel and axle diameters, and a few other dimensions are right, but had to guess on a few other details. Shading (the colors and textures) is very preliminary, but I like the lighting. Need more plans. And time. And larger spikes.
If the forum and it's esteamed members will indulge me, I'd like to share my progress and ask a million questions (what's this? whatsit do?), and maybe along the way we can all learn a thing or two - like quartering drivers - I did not know that.
Regards,
Mike
