Computer Question from Ernie Robart

Hello all you Videographers -

Ernie Robart, a long-term fan and supporter of the narrow gauge and co-author of
a superb history of the last few years of the D&RGW's operations over Cumbres*,
has asked me to post his request for some assistance:

"Computer question for you:

"I just had another 8mm reel transferred to DVD. [It] shows the C&TS in its first tourist season on 8-14-71!
It also has my footage of OM and OY in operation!!

"All the 8mm transfers are in .vob format; I dunno what software created the DVD ...

"I need to change them to .mpg so I can do some editing, add titles, etc. One suggestion was just to rename the file after downloading from DVD to my hard drive. I don't think that will work. Can you toss this around out there ... ? Maybe someone can help me!"

Ernie hasn't joined the NGDF but he reads it frequently, so you can just post your suggestions here.
