3 pictures below, The first is of Locomotive 42, in about 1941. Circled on her is a lever on the sand dome, presumably for agitating the sand in the dome?
The second circle is around two 90 degree elbows that used to connect to something? What are these for, and where did they go to? When removed, would the fittings be capped off, or were they left open?

Second picture is of Locomotive 345 in 1936, with these same two lines still plumbed but in a different spot. Also, 343 behind her with the two lines more resembling 42's...
