In the "And the West is History" column in today's Durango Herald it is remembered:
75 YEARS AGO: “Officials of the Denver and Rio Grande Western railroad invited the public to the showing of one of the completely remodeled and modernized narrow gauge passenger trains.” The new train, which would be put to regular service between Alamosa and Durango, featured steam heat, electrical lighting and vestibules.”
How appropriate that Jimmy is doing 1937 in his trainsheet memories!
