Had a very enjoyable trip down to the Colorado Railroad Museum today with a friend of mine. The sole purpose of the trip was to drop off the painting that I was donating for the Wine and Cheese Train Event to be held on August 8th. But we also figured it would be fun to ride in the Goose and also get some shots of a few of the cars around the area.

It turned out to be a very great day. We got to meet Jim Barton as well as Sharon McGee. They both were an absolute pleasure to meet, but I must say I really enjoyed talking with Jim off and on during the afternoon. If you get a chance to go out there, make sure and say Hi to him.

The highlight of the day was two fold. One - we got to ride in the cab of Goose #7, which was absolutely amazing. The crew there at the museum did a FANTASTIC job on restoring the interior.

The Second highlight we got to see was Shay #12 being moved into the west most bay (#1 I think - the one with the crane) to be readied for operation very soon. Below are a couple of shots of her getting moved in place by the small diesel. The little diesel had quite a time getting her moved, but with some help got her in the stall OK.

What a great day to spend out at the museum. Got to meet one of our own there, got to see the Goose run, and got to see some work going on around the grounds, AND got to see #12 being readied for operation soon, which sounds like when it does run it will be a pretty amazing event.
