NNG Driving Times (from Texas Panhandle)

Howdy everyone, having just graduated college, I will be moving to the area of Borger, Tx with my new job (it is 45 miles northeast of Amarillo, Tx). Does anyone know at what driving times I am looking at for Chama? Colorado Springs? etc?

As far as Borger to Chama, Google Maps has me going down to I40 and taking that into New Mexico and head up through Santa Fe to Chama, a distance of 447 miles. I have found a route at 386 miles using HW 64 through Tres Piedras, Eagle Nest, and Cimarron. Assuming it is the summer, how bad is this road? Would it really be faster to go all the way south to use the interstate or to use Raton and La Veta than HW 64?

Thanks everyone!
