Victorian Christmas Event at the WW&F

December 22, 2010 08:56AM
Folks,

Every year, on the Saturday before Christmas, the Wiscasset, Waterville & Farmington Railway Museum hosts an annual event, called "Victorian Christmas". They steam up #10 and offer FREE train rides, refreshments, horse-drawn wagon/sleigh rides, and a chance for the kids to visit with Santa Claus.

With each passing year, the event becomes more popular as more and more people discover this little piece of history in the woods of Maine. This year's ridership nearly doubled the numbers from last year, with over 900 people riding the 2-footers between 11 AM and 5 PM. In order to handle the crowds, the museum pressed every piece of rolling stock that could carry passengers into service. Even the open car got a work-out, despite temperatures in the 20s.

Here are a few pics that I took during the day. Perhaps others that were there will post a few of theirs as well.
