For discussion purposes only, a burnt and bent bridge can be repaired. Using tried and true methods it is practical to "undo" rather severe deformations using torches, hammers, and presses. There are several firms in the US that travel all over to fix bent structure. Just an example of one is:
Example of flame straightening comapny
I have no connection with these folks at all. But they do show what is possible. The process is tedious and hard work, but in the end it is less costly and faster than replacement. Having worked around this process, it appears almost magical to witness. A skilled crew can restore bent members to ruler straight with found cracks repaired along the way.
The responsible folks involved with the C&TS bridges should at least put this type of repair into their considerations.
