Seasonal Airtran Service to the EBT and Maine 2 footers!

From June 11 thru September 8, Airtran will be flying into Harrisburg:

This is important to narrow-gaugers because Harrisburg is the closest airport to the East Broad Top. According to google maps, it is only 91.5 miles (1 hour and 36 minutes) from Orbisonia.

The Altoona-Blair airport is actually closer to the EBT, at only 36.5 miles from Orbisonia. Unfortunately, the route between Altoona airport and Orbisonia goes over the Broad Top, so the 36.5-mile long trip takes 1 hour and 23 minutes according to Google. (It'd take the typical narrow-gauger even longer since the route passes through Robertsdale, then follows much of the EBT.) Worse, Altoona is only served by Colgan Air (US Air feeder) with flights from Dulles.

Airtran is also starting seasonal service (June 11 thru Sept 8) to Portland, Maine:

I presume this will make it more economical for others to get to see the Maine 2 footers.

I personally don't like flying Airtran, but I like it when they start servicing a market because it drives the cost of tickets on their competitors down.
