Maine Two Footers Boilers

April 20, 2009 10:46AM
Folks,
Four of the five existing Maine two Foot locomotives were at the Edaville Railroad for many years.

It is my understanding that all four of them got new boilers between 1950 and 1990 more or less.

Does anyone know when and where the boilers came from? I assume they are welded construction; am I correct?

I have read on their web site that the Maine Narrow Gauge Museum is working of a Form four for the Bridgton and Saco River #7 the last of the four Edaville locomotives that has not steamed since she left Edaville.

Also the Monson #3 has been leased to the Sandy River Railroad Museum in Philips for 25 years. They too are working on her boiler and they should have her steaming again; but not sure how soon.

This is the museum that has been running a gas replica of SR & RL #4. I am glad to hear that they will be steaming one of these days!
