As you may remember from my questions about T-12 #169 below, I was asking whether the T-12's got the automatic Economy firedoors like the C-series apparently did. There was some discussion back and forth. Well now, thanks to Jerry Day, the question is answered for sure. Jerry was not willing to post the information here due to past conflicts, but he did generously provide the information from the #168 and #169 equipment cards, copies of which are in his records:
D&RGW 168
Cab curtain, storm windows added January 1, 1929…$38.53
Auto fire door added July 1, 1931…$83.35.
D&RGW 169
Ray Flanger added March 1913
Electric headlight added June 1915
Cab curtain, storm windows added January 1, 1929…$38.55
Auto fire door added July 1, 1931…$84.18
Jerry said he will be sending me more information as he digs it out. Thanks Jerry!
So now we know that the Economy firedoors were added to both engines in 1931, and as Earl Knoob surmised, they were apparently replaced with the manual doors when they were put on display.
