The former D&RGW railroad is in revenue service from South Fork to a mile short of Creede. The Silver Streak began on Thursday June 18, 2009 so visit their web site for further schedule.
They have built a wonderful small Rio Grande style station at South Fork and almost had a wood platform completed for the departure.
Also, a new printing of the Veta Pass book by Steve Rasmussen will soon be available, with up dates regarding the RG&SJ RR service out of Alamosa.
The revenue car (a former track spiker) was followed by a hi-rail boom truck for protection in case of any bugs. From the sounds of it, the trip went wonderful and the scenry is some of the best in Colorado, through Wagon Creek Gap. No word was said about the confort of the ride which can only mean good.
