2 ft. Locomotives Large and Small

I spotted the enclosed photo on the Welsh Highland Railway's web site, which shows an interesting contrast between their recently restored ex South African NGG16 no. 87 and the Ffestinog Railway's 1863 built George England 0-4-0 "Palmerston".

The Picture

The connection has now been made between the Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railways at Porthmadog, and WHR trains will start running there later in the year. Lots more interesting pictures and news on the Welsh Highland Project web site:

While my own railway volunteering efforts are with the Talyllyn Railway further down the Welsh coast, I cannot but admire all the effort that is being put into restoring this historic narrow gauge line.
