Hi Guys,
I have a question concerning Idler Cars that were used on the D&RGW. I was told by a friend that the break wheels were moved to the sides of the cars so that they would still be able to use the breaks if need be (with the pipe loads extending over the idler car).
Can anyone tell me where to find a picture of this configuration? Or did they completely remove the break wheel on the idler cars? As well...where the idler cars whatever they could find or were they chassis' of the old box cars?
Any information that could be shed on this subject would be greatly appreciated.
