If you search the used book market, you can find a 1st Edition of the Railroad Commissioner Report for Colorado for $500, but if you search Google Books and put in that title in the search engine, you can see and down-load the entire edition.

It is dated for the year ending June 30, 1885 so you can find some very fine data about the San Juan extension to Silverton, even to details of car counts and dollars received for each station on the line and the nature of that traffic, with commodity review.

The accidents are covered in immense details with the names of all injured and details of the extent of the damage. But the causes of the accidents are not fully followed up on as that pressed the company too much for this kind of publication.

For someone wanting to get a feel of the very beginning of the D&RG, DSP&P, or other Colorado Railroad, you will enjoy working through this wonderful source of original material. Too bad the other editions are not similarly available but the 1st edition of the PUC volume is also there. Emp
