The Train - Burt Lancaster Film

March 09, 2009 09:30AM
I recently watched the WW II era film The Train with Burt Lancaster.

Good film with lots of steam action.

I was puzzled by the set up for running the train. Is it my imagination or do the French locomotives have their controls reversed from the U.S. style steam locomotives?

I.e, the engineer is on the left side of the cab and the fireman runs from the left?

Also, what are all the wheels in the cab used for instead of levers?

Thanks!
