Cylinders on the 74

Hey everyone, I was looking through some pictures and I noticed that the 74 had something i had never seen before. I noticed that it was slide valve- but the cylinders sat slightly outboard? I have never seen this with this type of cylinder and quickly looking through the rest of the C&S locomotives I didn't see any others like this. i noticed that the 75 and 76 had inboard piston valve but all of the rest of the locomotives with slide valve sat straight up.

Was this how this engine was delivered or was it modified by the C&S?
