The D&SNG had to cancel its regular train yesterday and today -- I was told that the irrigation canal that parallels the main (as the main climbs up out of Hermosa) flooded and left 5" of ice over the rails! The railroad is apparently back to normal now and the regular train is supposed to run tomorrow (Saturday). I'm only sure of one detail, so don't quote me on anything else. The one thing I'm sure of is that the D&SNG ran a work extra with #486 today. Yvonne was out photographing the movement, so I won't attempt to try posting my photos here.
Also, per a scanner transmission, 486's pony truck derailed on the Durango balloon track. The last I heard, the D&SNG was firing up one of its diesel to rescue her. (Take that Michael! :-)
