prior to the pump car this is what my dad built. It is a 1920 Ford Model T fire patrol that was built out of a pile of parts laying around. This picture was taken the day before it was picked up by the new owner
The front pilot was built out of scrap Buda 16" wheels from a motor car. It featured a horse drawn Creators pop corn wagon 5th wheel to enable the railtruck to pivot.
The rear end was a modified Model T cut down to 3 foot
The pilot was designed with a cow catcher welded up from oil field pipe
the power plant was a 1920 Model T engine that produced 20hp
the framework was built out of 8/4 red oak
The truck featured an original fire truck seat and had a hose bed and hose reel which were plumbed for fighting fire.
The railtruck was sold in 2005 due to lack of indoor storage. The present owner wants to remain anonymous and converting the rear to carry passengers
