Ok guys, I need help on this one. Several days ago I was talking to a friend about tourist railroads in Colorado that are no longer with us. Naturally I talked about Central City, the loop from 1973 to 2004, and I mentioned the railroad at Magic Mountain outside of Golden. My friend had never heard of that one, and asked what equipment was used. I told him about #42 and some rolling stock purchased from Bob's Alamosa South. He wanted details....and this is all I could come up with.
RGS #42
RGS caboose 0409
RGS refer/outfit 2102
RGS box/outfit 8714
Then I ran into a snag. There were three "passenger cars" used by the Magic Mountain Railroad. All three were rebuilt from freight equipment, but what was the third car???? The caboose was ripped apart and rebuilt into a "wild west caboose". Its remains are now in Tokyo. 2102 and 8714 and the third car were used as a restaurant at Heritage Square until purchased by Lindsay for the loop. But what was Magic Mountains 3rd coach built from. I used to love to walk the railroad in the late 1960's. It was like walking the RGS. All the rail was in place. I remember the "snow shed/engine house" and a small car shop. There was a high side gon turned upside down with the trucks removed. Fritz, Steven, Rick.....you guys should know this one. What piece of equipment was rebuilt for the other "coach".....and where is it now??? Did it make it to the loop?
Phot from the DPLWC
Thanks folks,
Jerry
