Was watching a tv show today and they showed a breif clip of a car show in Gunnison. It got me thinking, is there any reason not to, or have any of the peoples of the C&TS or even the D&S gotten to gether with some of the bigger car clubs or bike (motorized!) clubs to promote both hobbies? This could be an alternate resource that could benifit any RR well. Anyone in these clubs love to take their bikes and/or old cars on drives through nature, and especially mountainous terrain. Mix that with a historic Steam train ride, and it could do well.
There definately would have to be an entrance fee that would cover advertising and maybe train tickets. There could also be a contest, and the first place winners of each category might recieve parlour car tickets or something. Many restaurants in the DFW area use this as a way to boost revenue, by scheduling car shows in their parking lots. Its a win, win...People with the cars eat, and people who came to see the cars eat...Even if not everyone who shows up rides the train, it still couldnt hurt the RR or the town's revenue.
Any thoughts??
