water tanks

I reccently had a chance to look over a collection of photos of water tanks from the late 1930's. These were mostly taken by Don Rogers, who was a water service guy.

This first is of Mears jct in 1938

Next is a Bob Richardson photo taken in 1954. (from the DPL)

Cleariy this is a different tank.
Questions: When did this change take place? Was this part of a system wide replacement program on the narrow gauge or just normal maintenance?

The final photo is of the Cumbres Tank, again from Don Rogers in 1939. This tank was replaced some time later by a water plug, I believe that the tank at Sublette was also replaced with a water plug about the same time.

Any Thoughts with some firmer dates would be appreciated.
