I am new at this so I hope it works. I have uploaded several clips of my trips to Durango that are on Super8mm film. They date from July 1975 to July 1984. In the '75 shots are the Durango yards, with 497, 481, cold and out of service and 476 simmering in the roundhouse.
I still remember first walking out the trackside depot door after getting the tickets and seeing two cabooses in front of the Depot, wondering over to the roundhouse and seeing 476 peeking out one of the only three remaining stalls.
That year we camped at the KOA north of town and everyday we came into town we would wait to see one of the trains run along the highway.
My Dad shot many many feet of movie film on that trip but I thought this was a nice group of clips from it.
Coach 327 had not been shopped yet so it still had the wooden windows, stove with plexiglass partition and the conductors desk. We sat in the front two seats on the opposite side of the conductor so we got to know him pretty well. I wish I knew his name it is not listed on the note sheet about the trip. He was great! He also recommended eating at the Pickel Barrel!
The next clip shows two different years of the trains leaving Durango July 1975 And July 1984. A lot had changed in those years. I left the frame jumping part in. It was part of watching movies at home. You had to keep the film looped just right. If it lost the loop it would jump.
I will try to upload some more later. Hope you all enjoy it.
Oh yea I am the one wearing the Engineers hat. Yes I still have it and no doesn't fit
