I just received a picture from a friend of a recently restored 3000 series boxcar. Although it looks beautifully restored, the lettering is all wrong. I am attaching the picture so you can see for yourselves.
In view of the discussion about 489's silver trim and the obvious problems lettering the equipment correctly, how about the Friends or the Commission developing a written painting and lettering guide for all the types of equipment on the C&TS. I am thinking that it would provide correct painting and lettering diagrams for locomotives, work and freight equipment, etc. It might even provide this information for the structures along the line. There are knowledgable people out there that might be persuaded to participate and provide input to assure that the final product is accurate in its guidelines. Such a set of standards would avoid the excess trim on 489 and incorrectly lettered equipment. What do all of you think?
