489 Run on August 28th

Today was 489's first run by herself eastbound out of Chama! She took the regular train up the hill to Cumbres. According to Ronnie Lopez who was the engineer, she ran quite well. There was a slight heating of the main rod on the fireman's side, but it was not anything to be concerned about. She was uncoupled and run light back to Chama. 488, who went up the hill light ahead of the regular train then took over and hauled the eastbound the rest of the way.

Last word that I had, is that tomorrow 489 is going to be the road engine that takes the eastbound all the way to Antonito!!

It is SO NICE to see four engines under steam!!!
