On Fridays and Saturdays in August, #18 will be running on the Alamosa-Monte Vista Mixed train departing Alamosa at 930am and 130pm.

On Fri and Sat in August we will be running concert trains in the afternoon from Alamosa to Fir and return using the Alamosa-La Veta train consist. This is resulting in annulling the regular Alamosa-La Veta train on these days. #18 will continue to run Alamosa to La Veta on Sunday thru Thursday.

1744's firebox troubles have continued to mount. The latest discoveries are cracks in the corners of the mudring. The decision has been made to pull the boiler off the frame and send the boiler to a contractor's shop where it can be worked on. There it will also get a new set of tubes, a new form 4 and 1472 day inspection. When it returns, the boiler will be good for another 15 years.
