Narrow gauge 2-12-12-2's? *LINK*

How about some 75 cm. (roughly 2.4 foot) gauge 2-12-12-2's? Hard to imagine. But I was at friend's house the other night looking at his slides of the Rio Turbio (RFIRT) line in the south of Argentina taken back in the 1970's. At that time the line was hauling coal with relatively modern Mitsubishi 2-10-2's. During Tom's visit the master mechanic showed him a drawing of a proposed 2-10-10-2, and Tom had a picture of the engineering drawing clearly showing that wheel arrangement. And then Tom commented that he was told verbally that there was some discussion of a 2-12-12-2. Wow. RFIRT was one of the lines where famed modern steam engineer L. D. Porta tried to find ways to make steam more efficient.
What brought on the slide show was recent word that the line was being revived with steam. The link below provides more info to anyone interested. Same gauge as the famous Esquel line, but a very different operation.
