How about a 2-4-4-2? Of course this is a purely fictional, sort of what could have happened if narrow gauge development hadn't stopped. A 10-coupled wheel base would be too ripid for the track and a one-axle trailing truck would give enough horsepower without limiting tractive force.
Say, Unitah had something like that.
