Thought some of you might be interested in this information. Received it from a D&RGW engineer who started as a crew caller at Gunnison in 1915.
You know that when the mudhens first came out they were assigned that is they nearly always had the same engineer and fireman and they worked between Salida and Gunnison except for the 463 which was put on the Crested Butte run and when I was crew caller, when I first went on the RR if I knew the engine number, I could give you the name of the engineer and fireman without looking at the register.
