The two photos above show narrow gauge/ standard gauge diamonds that are on private property in the northwest. Photos were taken last fall.
Such items must be a bit rare in the US these days. Are there other photos of similar trackwork out there?
Quite a few "differing gauge" crossings exist in Queensland, Australia where extensive 2 foot gauge sugar hauling lines cross wider gauge rails. Some crossings are a mechancal "drawbridge" type where the light track is normally raised up, then lowers to permit a cane train to pass over the wider track. Some of the derailments, equipment and antics of these 2 foot gauge cane lines as seen in the "photos" section of the web site below look pretty "colorful" indeed. (Page 15 in the photos section has some shots of the above mentioned narrow gauge draw crossings)
