Does anyone know when the Rio Grande began using old rails as sign posts? (grade crossing signs, mileposts, whistleboards etc)
As of Jan 30, the UP has torn out all of the old grade crossing signs between Alamosa and Antonito and replaced them with new signs with wood posts. The old rail signposts are all in a pile in the Alamosa yards. The only grade crossing sign left with a rail signpost is on the Cumbres & Toltec's crossing of US 285 in Antonito.
