Creede Action

January 05, 2008 06:22PM
On the DRGW Yahoo site, they mention that the town of Creede has applied for abandoment of one mile of the railroad track in Creede. This is kind of like the Doctor in Denver who took possession of the neighbors land because he was using it and the owner wasn't. Does parking of the unused baretables mean that the rails ARE being used and nullify the abandonment request. Because the freight is on the rails kind of makes it impossible to use the line for anything but storage. What is the plan for the salvaging of the cars, as it would seem easier to send them to Pueblo to be melted down there, although the number of cars involved would prohibit removing all at once, but it seems like using the line for an occassional tourist excursion to Creede would help defend keeping the rails in place. It would send a message to the town of Creede that the tourist train is going to happen sooner or later.
