Hi all,
2 quick questions if I may:
When did #223 leave Gunnison to be donated to Salt Lake City?
This page says July 24th 1941, but
this one says December 1941.
Also, when did #268 arrive in Gunnison from Durango? There's a picture in one of the Narrow Gauge Pictorials that shows her in front of the Durango roundhouse "circa 1940". Another shows her in Gunnison in August 1941.
I'm guessing here that #223 was donated because she was worn out and that #268 was moved to Gunnison to help out #278 (since the C-16s were the largest locomotive allowed on the bridges of the Baldwin Branch). I'm wondering if there was a time when all 3 C-16s where in Gunnison.
Thanks for any information!
