This week the Denver & Rio Grande Railway Historical Foundation loaded the oldest surviving D&RGW diesel. It was donated to the D&RG RY HF by the Amalgamated Sugar Company. It was bought from the Rio Grande by the Great Western Sugar Company (now Amalgamated) and used until 4 years ago when it was accidentally run off the end of the track. The Foundation received the donation of it months back and loaded it this week on a bulk head flat for its journey to South Fork, Colorado. The engine will be sand-blasted and repainted back in its original paint scheme (black/gold). Hopes are to get it up and operational to help aid in the rebuild of the South Fork to Creede line. Hope you enjoy,
